Admission to our Graduate Program in Biological Sciences Biophysics is through a selection process carried out twice a year – the official notices informing about the opening of registrations are published on our website about 60 days before the enrollment date. There are no limits in the number of applicants. Enrollments of successful candidates take place in March or August. Successful applicants are eligible to receive scholarships based on scholarship availability and ranking in the selection process. Duration of scholarships: Master’s degree – 24 months; Doctorate degree – 48 months.
Before initiating in the selection process, the candidates must obtain the consent of an authorized supervisor of the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences Biophysics with whom they intend to develop their research project.
Master's Science Degree
Enrollment Process Steps
(a) Test of basic knowledge in Biology;
(b) Second Language Proficiency Exam (Portuguese for English native speakers);
Public oral presentation of the scientific projects of the classified candidates with evaluation by a panel composed of three professors/supervisors.
Doctorate Degree
Eligibility: Holders of a Strictu-sensu Master's Science degree.. For the “Direct Doctorate Degree” modality, holders of an undergraduate degree are eligible for admission to the Doctorate. In both cases, the diplomas must come from Brazilian institutions recognized by the MEC or from foreign institutions certified in their countries of origin.
1. Enrollment Process Steps for MSc holders:
Oral public presentation of the project to be developed and analysis of the curriculum vitae. The public presentation will be evaluated by a professor committee composed of three advisers.
The topics evaluated by the committee are:
- Candidate's level of general and specific knowledge in the area of the proposed project;
- Ability to discuss the rationale of the project;
- Knowledge of the methodological approach to be used in project development;
- Feasibility of the project within 48-month period;
- Academic performance at undergraduate and graduate levels.
2. Enrollment Process Steps for Direct Doctorate Degree modality:
(a) Test of basic knowledge in Biology;
